A Huge Success For Local Search And Rescue

A big cheque for West Kootenay SAR

Endless Adventure’s 10th Anniversary Fundraising campaign and The Summer Recreation Safety Photo contest were a huge success. Endless Adventure, of Crescent Valley, raised 2K for the West Kootenay Search and Rescue Training weekend. The objective was to alleviate the pressure on volunteers who occasionally have had to use their own funds for training and equipment.

At the Saturday night dinner Andrea and Chris, the owners of Endless Adventure presented Gord and Barb of the Castlegar Society for Search and Rescue (CSAR) the cheque, along with some prizes and equipment for the weekend training. Gord of CSAR went on to thank Chris and Andrea for their endless support throughout the year for all Kootenay based Search and Rescue associations.

Chris and Andrea went above and beyond by also arranging for a Slocan River Adventure for the family members of volunteers attending the training weekend.

“Volunteers who do search and rescue provide this region with a much needed service and if there is anything we can do to encourage, inspire and help we are there.” says Chris.

As well as the fundraising efforts there was a photo contest that featured recreation safety awareness. The contest had an amazing response. Even prize sponsors such as Kokanee Mountain Zipline showcased their safety features.
